Saints reportedly still want Dez Bryant back in 2019

The New Orleans Saints would reportedly love to see if Dez Bryant can give them a boost in 2019, despite his torn Achiles last year.

According to Jane Slater of NFL Network (h/t Bobby Belt of NFL Network), in an appearance with 105.3 The Fan, “They still want (Dez Bryant) back in New Orleans.”

For what it’s worth, Bryant also would like to return to the Saints.

Bryant, who will turn 31 in November, was a player the Saints were excited about last year when he signed a one-year deal. Unfortunately, he never got a chance to prove what he has left in the tank due to his injury.

Previously, he’d been released by Dallas after experiencing a decline in production from 2015-17. In those three seasons, which were marred by injury, he caught 150 passes for 2,035 yards and 17 touchdowns.

During his prime, Bryant was one of the most dangerous receivers in the league. From 2012-14, there were few that could impact the game like he did.

With a loaded offense already that includes one of the league’s current best receivers in Michael Thomas, Bryant wouldn’t be asked to be a primary weapon. Yet as a complementary receiver he’d be a huge red-zone threat and could certainly add more potency to the Saints’ offense as a whole.
