Saints CB Brandon Browner carted off field with apparent knee injury

New Orleans Saints cornerback Brandon Browner had to be carted from the sideline into the locker room in the team’s preseason opener on Thursday night.

Kristian Garic of WWL 870am reported this development after Browner had limped off the field of play.

The free-agent defensive back took a helmet to the knee from teammate Hau’oli Kikaha, as you can see here from this video, courtesy of Sharief Ishaq of WDSU-TV in New Orleans.

As you can see by the video above, Kikaha’s helmet crashed into Browner’s knee from the side, which is concerning. This is how knee ligaments are sometimes shredded, though at this time we don’t have any idea to what extent his knee might be injured.

The Saints signed Browner to a three-year contract worth $15 million this offseason after he helped the New England Patriots win the Super Bowl last season.

Known for his bullying style of play on the corner, Browner is one of the most physical, and most dominant cornerbacks in the NFL. He was brought on to be a centerpiece in Rob Ryan’s defense, so you know the Saints are holding their collective breath on this injury.
