Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox fractures tip of left index finger, status for Game 5 uncertain

There’s no question who the star of the show is for the Sacramento Kings. It’s clearly first-year point guard De’Aaron Fox, who’s either led or tied for the team lead in scoring each of the Kings’ first four playoff matchups this postseason.

That includes Game 4’s inspiring 38-point effort, which was nearly enough to help take a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Golden State Warriors. Of course, it didn’t happen, as the Warriors were able to get a last-second stop courtesy of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, but Fox was certainly a threat.

Fans were already amazed by Fox’s effort on Sunday, but what they didn’t know was that the Kings’ point guard actually reportedly suffered a fractured tip of his left index finger at some point during the fourth quarter of Game 4.

Of course, fans weren’t aware of this because Fox continued to play. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Fox will try and suit up for Game 5 on Tuesday but would need to do so with some sort of protective wrap on the injured finger. For now, consider Fox to be doubtful.

The Kings and Warriors remain tied at 2-2 in the series, but would surely hope Fox is available when they take the floor at Golden 1 Center for Game 5.
