Ryan Tannehill not ruled out for for Wild Card game

Ryan Tannehill Miami Dolphins

It seems to be somewhat of a long shot but the Miami Dolphins are not ruling out quarterback Ryan Tannehill for their AFC Wild Card matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.

Tannehill missed the final three regular season games after suffering sprains to his ACL and MCL back in Week 14.

According to Pro Football Talk, Dolphins head coach Adam Gase indicated on Wednesday that Tannehill will start against the Steelers should he take to the practice field this week. The expectation here is that he might be able to give it a go on Thursday.

Tannehill was not with the team at practice on Wednesday.

This is somewhat of a tricky situation for the Dolphins. Veteran backup Matt Moore has performed well in Tannehill’s stead, tossing eight touchdowns compared to three interceptions in four games (three starts). The team needs to ask itself whether Moore is a better option at 100 percent compared to a banged-up Tannehill.

Whoever starts under center will be tasked with putting up a solid performance. After all, Miami is taking on a high-flying Steelers offensive attack and was absolutely blitzed through the air by Tyrod Taylor and Tom Brady in the team’s final two regular season games.
