Ryan Shazier shouts out teammates and fans after Steelers game

Ryan Shazier

Ryan Shazier was at Heinz Field Sunday evening for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ pivotal game against the New England Patriots. It was the first time he’s been seen in public since suffering the scary back injury that required surgery and knocked him out for the rest of the season.

Early in the game, he pumped up the crowd and his team by waiving a Terrible Towel sitting in the owner’s box (watch here).

He took to Instagram after the game to express his gratitude and shout out his teammates. Highlighting Vince Williams’ interception of Tom Brady, he shared the following message.

“First game back a Heinz Field. I love the city of Pittsburgh, the my team, and my brother. No matter what the outcome is. Also thank everyone else around the world for your amazing support!!!!”

For a while it looked like the Steelers would beat their AFC rival. Unfortunately a crazy sequence of events at the end turned against the home team, which lost by three games.

Still, it was a special moment for Shazier, and we look forward to watching him continue on the road to a full recovery.
