The Portland Diamond Group, which is seeking to bring a major league team to Portland and is exploring potential stadium sites, brought on the married couple into the efforts and would make them minority owners if the city gets an MLB team.
According to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred indicated earlier this year that the league would like to get to 32 teams.
Given efforts made by the Tampa Bay Rays and Oakland Athletics to remain in their respective cities, expansion is likely Portland’s best chance at landing a professional baseball team.
