Russell Westbrook’s Awesome Act of Kindness

Every once in a while, an athlete surprises the masses by showing a level of altruism that isn’t widespread in the world today.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook did just this on Monday—one day after putting up yet another triple-double in what has been a MVP-caliber season.

But it was off the court that Westbrook showed he was a true MVP.

That’s right. Russ decided to hand over the keys to the very same KIA car he won by earning the All-Star game MVP to a single mother in need.

Kerstin Gonzales, a mother of two, was absolutely shocked when the MVP candidate showed up with the new car.

Flush with millions in cash and no real need for another car, Westbrook figured that Gonzales could use the car more than him.

It’s these types of stories that usually go unnoticed in the sports world. It’s also this type of display that makes Russ one of the most widely-respected players in the entire Association.

For Gonzales and her two little ones, one act of kindness made all the difference in the world.

And for the Thunder guard, he gains the satisfaction of knowing he made a difference for this lovely family.

Great job, Russ.
