Russell Westbrook out on Friday vs. Clippers

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is closing in on a return, but the All-Star point guard will now miss Friday’s game as his recovery from knee surgery continues.

Westbrook, who missed the season opener against the Golden State Warriors, is making steady progress. However, the team ruled him out in advance of Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Over one month after he had surgery on his right knee, Westbrook has been practicing on a limited bases in recent days.

As long as he remains sidelined, Dennis Schroeder will start and see heavy minutes at point guard. The 25-year-old impressed in his debut with the Thunder, scoring 21 points with eight rebounds and six assists against Golden State.
