When Tom Brady’s appeal hearing ended late Tuesday evening, NFLPA council Jeffrey Kessler indicated that there was no timetable for a ruling on the appeal.
We now have a little bit of an insight regarding a potential timetable for Commissioner Roger Goodell to make a ruling. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, there is cause to believe that no ruling will be made before next weekend. It is reported that the post-hearing briefs are not due to the commissioner until late next week. Goodell will then have to read through the briefs that consist of full explanations from Brady addressing every question posed in the Wells Report.
More information was provided by Brady’s team than they originally supplied when Wells conducted his “Deflategate” investigation. Rapoport also reports that it is not known whether Brady handed over his phone during the appeals process.
We will have to wait until after the commissioner reviews the briefs in order find out if the arguments are convincing enough to consider reducing or eliminating Brady’s four-game suspension altogether.
