The NFL put on a heck of a show under unusual circumstances during the three-day draft that came to a conclusion on Saturday.
In holding the annual draft virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the NFL also used the popular event to raise money. The hope was that a telethon might help the United States as it continues to fight the pandemic.
It has. According to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the telethon has raised nearly $100 million in cold hard cash.
That’s some absolutely extraordinary stuff right there. People initially had their reservations about the NFL holding its draft in the midst of a pandemic. Those concerns have proven to be overblown.
Not only has the 2020 NFL Draft enabled people to focus on something else outside of today’s reality, it has helped those who need it the most during these trying times.
As for Goodell, he’s now going to auction off a trip to his man cave to a certain fan who wants to watch a “Monday Night Football” game with him next season.
