Riley Cooper Featured on Eagles Calendar for Black History Month – February

On a story originally noticed by Deadspin, Philadelphia Eagles’ wide receiver Riley Cooper is featured for the February page of the team’s calendar. February is predominantly known as Black History Month.

What’s wrong this picture? Well, Cooper was under extreme fire for tossing around some racial slurs caught on video at a Kenny Chesney concert a couple of years ago. Cooper was fined and has since apologized for the slurs directed at an African American security guard.

So as we can see, Riley was not exactly the best choice out of all the Eagles to feature on February’s page.

Regarding the calendar, the Eagles shared this statement..

We do not oversee the production of the annual team calendar. We do not provide any input about the players who are featured or where those pictures appear in the calendar. The NFL licenses the production of that calendar to a third party and we do not have an opportunity to review the material.

Pass the buck to the printing company. Good one. Perhaps it is time to start working with companies that let the team review their work prior to publishing.
