Rick Neuheisel: Joe Burrow ‘is Tom Brady’

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow is the king of college football right now and clearly well in the lead to win the 2019 Heisman Trophy. And if you believe former player and coach Rick Neuheisel, now an analyst for CBS Sports, he’s the next Tom Brady.

Actually, the quote from Neuheisel (speaking on the Dan Patrick Show) is “That guy is Tom Brady. He’s going to be a remarkable NFL player.”

You can’t offer higher praise than that, folks.

From a career arc perspective, the two players couldn’t be more different. Burrow is likely to be one of the top players (if not the first) taken in the 2020 NFL Draft, whereas Brady famously was not selected until the sixth round out of Michigan.

However, both of them do have victories against Alabama, and both have shown incredible poise under pressure.

Burrow has been one of the biggest surprises this college football season. His trajectory from last year to this is off the charts. Through nine games this season, he’s passed for 3,198 yards with 33 touchdowns and four interceptions. LSU is also undefeated and arguably the best team in the nation, having beaten four top-10 teams this season.

If Burrow can take this team to the title game and wins it, then he’ll have more in common with Brady than he does now, to be sure.
