Richard Sherman on Cam Newton’s struggles: ‘I guess karma gets you’

Richard Sherman

Richard Sherman and his Seattle Seahawks will play host to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday night. It’s an opportunity for the Seahawks to exact revenge against the very same Panthers squad that defeated them in the playoffs last season. In the process, Seattle can pretty much guarantee that the struggling Panthers won’t earn a postseason spot this season.

In speaking about the upcoming matchup and what he saw happen last January in the playoffs, the always talkative Richard Sherman threw some pretty tremendous shade Newton’s way.

“I guess karma gets you. Doesn’t look like they are going to the playoffs this year,” Sherman said, via Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times.

The karma Sherman speaks of here stems from Newton taking the famed Seahawks 12th man flag and throwing it away following Carolina’s 31-24 win over Seattle in the NFC Divisional playoffs (watch here).

Newton drew a ton of criticism for this act of disrespect. And in reality, it appears that Sherman has not forgotten about it.

As it relates to Sherman’s prediction that the Panthers will not make the playoffs, they are currently 4-7 on the season and three games out of first place in the NFC South. He’s definitely not off-base with that sentiment.
