One day after being released by the Tennessee Titans, quarterback Zach Mettenberger has reportedly been picked up on waivers by the San Diego Chargers.

As ESPN’s Adam Schefter notes, Mettenberger landed with his old head coach, Ken Whisenhunt, who got some good things out of him as a rookie out of LSU.
During Mettenberger’s rookie campaign, before the team landed Marcus Mariota the next year, he completed just under 60 percent of his passes for 1,412 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.
He had also developed quite the rapport with his receivers, who showed no small amount of frustration when the Titans landed Mariota No. 2 overall.
Mettenberger finds himself in the perfect situation to learn behind Philip Rivers. The Chargers needed him, too, having no real backup option behind the aging veteran.
