San Francisco mayor London Breed banned large gatherings of 1,000 people or more Wednesday due to the growing coronavirus threat. That order of course has a ripple effect for pro sports, and as a result the Golden State Warriors will host the Brooklyn Nets Thursday night at Chase Center without fans.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski elaborated on this, noting this will be the case for the foreseeable future.

The Warriors were urged to enact this safety measure before Tuesday night’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers but chose instead to allow fans to attend. Now, they will have no choice in the matter.

Chances are, this is but the first of many like decisions around the NBA, and other sports leagues as well. Following a more extreme measure taken in the state of Washington, the Seattle Mariners are reportedly discussing playing their home games in Arizona due to COVID-19 as well.
