Trevor Siemian will start first preseason game for Broncos

Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian warming up before a Broncos game

It appears all the reports that indicate Trevor Siemian is ahead of Paxton Lynch have indeed been true, at least up to this point.

As passed along by James Palmer of NFL Media, head coach Vance Joseph confirmed Siemian will start the first preseason game for the Denver Broncos.

This comes on the heels of a report that Siemian has won every single practice session over Lynch during training camp.

It also comes on the heels of one player saying Siemian is a better leader than the second-year quarterback out of Memphis. A guy John Elway traded some good draft currency away to move up last April to land in the first round (No. 26 overall).

Does this mean Siemian will be the starter for the entire 2017 NFL season? No. Paxton Lynch will start in Week 2 to keep the illusion the quarterback competition is alive and well.

But it does mean that Lynch has some work cut out for him to overtake Siemian, a guy who was going to go undrafted in 2015 if not for Gary Kubiak taking a gamble on him.
