New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is not one to openly question his organization. It’s one of the reasons he enjoys a great relationship with owner Robert Kraft.
However, the team’s recent decision to release Antonio Brown after multiple sexual assault allegations became public record upset the six-time Super Bowl champion.
“A bummed-out quarterback who had five practices and one game with an ultra-rare talent,” Tom Curran of NBC Sports Boston reported on Thursday. “He (Brady) went all-in trying to make it work, got close to Brown and tried to understand and help him. He’s not happy Brown got flushed both because the football was going to be sublime and Brady thought Brown was reachable.”
Brady and Brown did look nearly unstoppable in their only game together before the receiver was thrown out the door.
However, New England’s brass could not justify keeping Brown around following the above-mentioned accusations and Brown’s threatening text messages directed at one of the accusers. It was a business decision from Kraft and Co., something Brady did not take a liking to.
“Brady was trying to help Brown stabilize. He disagrees with the business decision made by Robert Kraft to jettison Brown,” the report read.
Not too often do we see a rift grow between Brady and his organization. Someone had to leak this information to the media, leading to further speculation that Brady is still not over New England releasing Mr. Brown.
The moral of the story here is that even the most stable of organizations have internal drama. As a representation of that, the Patriots are not immune from it all.
