Report: Tom Brady signs two-year extension with Patriots

Tom Brady has reportedly signed a two-year contract extension with the New England Patriots that keeps him locked in with the franchise through the 2019 season, per Adam Schefter and Diana Marie Russini of ESPN.

This is hardly shocking news, and you can bet the extension gives New England more cap flexibility for the upcoming season.

Brady, who will be 39 before the 2016 NFL season begins, still has plenty of good football left in him. Thanks to a rigorous year-round training regiment, a healthy diet and constant work with his quarterback guru Tom House, he’s primed to play for at least a few more years barring injury.

And as long as the Patriots have Brady and can continue to extend his contract to infinity, they’ll remain contenders for the Lombardi Trophy on a yearly basis.

The terms of the new deal are not yet known, but the new deal likely gives Brady a significant amount of money up front.
