Report: Titans Had “Zero Interest” in Jay Cutler

The Tennessee Titans were apparently fielding offers for the second pick on Thursday night, but decided to stand pat and select Marcus Mariota.

Reports are now surfacing that one of the teams interested in trading up to second overall was the Chicago Bears, who were dangling veteran quarterback Jay Cutler.

Sports Illustrated’s Peter King verified that Chicago did call Tennessee in talks that the Bears decided to incorporate Cutler in.

However, there was “zero interest” from the Titans in acquiring the embattled signal caller.

Yes, Chicago expressed some interest—but wasn’t banging the Titans’ door down—in moving up from seven to two to pick Mariota,” King wrote. “However, the Titans had zero interest in Jay Cutler, so that never got off the ground.

At the end of the night, Chicago “settled” for top receiving prospect Kevin White, who will now team up with Alshon Jeffery to form a strong wide receiver tandem for Cutler. Of course, that’s if Cutler isn’t dealt during the remainder of the draft—something that seems to be unlikely right now.
