Report: Titans finalizing trade for DeMarco Murray

The Philadelphia Eagles are in the midst of blowing everything up. Fresh off news that the team has traded Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell to the Miami Dolphins, comes this report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter indicating that the Eagles are finalizing a deal that will send DeMarco Murray to the Tennessee Titans:

Murray, 28, would immediately become the Titans starting running back should this trade be finalized on Wednesday.

The former NFL Offensive Player of the Year recorded just 702 yards and averaged 3.6 yards per attempt in his only season with the Eagles. That came on the heels of him signing a ridiculous five-year, $40 million deal with the Eagles last March.

Needless to say, the Eagles are doing their best to blow up what Chip Kelly created in his only season as the team’s player personnel head. This move is the latest indication of that.

From a Titans perspective, this trade makes a ton of sense. The likes of Bishop Sankey and David Cobb struggled big time last season.

Adding a capable veteran to go with young phenom Marcus Mariota in the backfield could be huge for the team moving forward.

While this trade may come out left field to a lot of people around the football world, we did predict Murray to the Titans in an article earlier on Monday.

It just makes a ton of sense, especially when we factor into the equation the need to get Mariota a solid running back to work with.
