The Houston Texans are without backup quarterback Tom Savage for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers. Though, that has to be the least of the team’s concerns.
According to this report from CBS Sports NFL insider Tracy Wolfson, Savage was hospitalized early Sunday morning with an infection to the elbow of his throwing arm.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport went on to indicate that the infection is to the skin, not inside the elbow.
There are no other details regarding the infection. Though, it was bad enough that he had to be hospitalized prior to a game in which he would have been the primary backup to the ineffective Brock Osweiler. Remember, there were even some rumors over the past week that the Texans might consider benching Osweiler in favor of Savage.
With Savage away from the team, Brandon Weeden has been called on to dress against the Packers. All jokes aside, let’s just hope that he’s not forced into the game here.
Savage, a fourth-round pick of the Texans back in 2014, has attempted a combined 19 regular season passes and has not seen action since his rookie campaign.
