Report: Suns waiving veteran guard Leandro Barbosa

The Phoenix Suns are heavily invested in a youth movement, so it’s not surprising to hear that veteran Leandro Barbosa is being released.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news Monday.

Originally a first-round pick by the San Antonio Spurs, Barbosa was traded to the Suns, where he ended up spending more than half his career.

In his 15th season last year, Barbosa was relegated to limited minutes off the bench. He averaged just 14.4 minutes (nearly a career low), 6.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and .5 steals per game.

Though Barbosa might land on another squad before the 2017-18 season, it’s safe to say his career is winding down.
