Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is set to repeat as NBA MVP, ESPN’s Marc Stein reports.
Warriors guard Stephen Curry will this week be named NBA Most Valuable Player for a second successive season, ESPN has learned.

This is far from shocking news.
Curry was the catalyst for Golden State’s record-breaking 73-win season. He also smashed his own three-point record, dropping in 402 from behind the arc. Nobody in history had ever hit more than 269 before Curry started raining down threes a few years ago. Now he’s re-writing the history books with numbers that may never be touched.
Curry averaged 30.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.7 assists and added 2.1 steals per game. His all-around performance this past NBA season was nothing short of remarkable.
It’s so remarkable that suddenly it’s not at all shocking to say LeBron James is not the best basketball player on planet Earth.
At this time, Curry remains sidelined with a knee injury. He’s expected to miss Game 4 in the Western Conference Semifinals series against the Portland Trailblazers, though he is practicing with the team, finally.
That Golden State has continued to win playoff games without the league MVP shows just how deep the team’s roster really is. Draymond Green, in particular, has stepped up his overall game, while Klay Thompson has gotten hot scoring the ball.
That said, Curry will be needed in the next round, assuming the Warriors dispatch the feisty Trailblazers, in next round’s matchup with either the San Antonio Spurs or Oklahoma City Thunder. He’ll also need to be on hand for the Warriors to have their best shot at repeating as NBA champs when the NBA Finals come to fruition.
