Report: Steelers sign safety Morgan Burnett to three-year deal

Morgan Burnett signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to terms with Morgan Burnett on a three-year contract worth roughly $14.5 million, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

This move helps Pittsburgh fill the void that was left when it released safety Mike Mitchell, who started 60 games for the Steelers the past four seasons.

Burnett spent his first eight seasons in the league with the Green Bay Packers. He became a full-time starter in his rookie season and now has 102 starts under his belt. During his tenure in Green Bay he racked up 717 tackles, nine interceptions, 46 pass break-ups, eight forced fumbles and 7.5 sacks.

Adding Burnett will certainly help solidify the back end for Pittsburgh on the defensive side of the ball. He’ll be plugged in as the starting strong safety for the Steelers from Day 1.
