Report: Sixers acquire Tobias Harris in blockbuster trade

The Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers got together during the early morning hours on the eve of the NBA’s trade deadline to pull off what has to be described as a pretty big deal.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers have sent Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic and Mike Scott to the Sixers for rookie Landry Shamet, veterans Wilson Chandler and Mike Muscala as well as first-round picks in 2020 and 2021 and two second-round picks.

Harris, 26, has performed like a borderline All-Star this season in Los Angeles. He enters Wednesday’s action averaging 20.7 points and 7.9 rebounds on 49 percent shooting from the field. That includes a stellar 42 percent mark from distance.

Being able to add someone of Harris’ ilk to the frontcourt is huge for a depth-depleted Sixers squad. He gives them a solid option at both the three and the four. Philly also gains depth at center behind Embiid in Marjanovic.

In return, Los Angeles acquires not only four valuable draft picks, but a talented rookie in Shamet who has played exceedingly well this season.

More to come on this blockbuster trade. For now, it changes the landscape in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.
