Report: ‘Several’ Maryland players walked out of meeting with DJ Durkin

Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

Following the stunning news that Maryland is bringing back head football coach DJ Durkin and athletic director Damon Evans, it’s clear that at least some players on the team are not happy about it all.

According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, “several players walked out of the meeting with DJ Durkin in College Park.”

Given the revelations of the explosive investigation released recently about Durkin and his coaching staff’s methods, this really isn’t all that surprising. Despite the investigation deeming that there was not a “toxic culture” at Maryland, some crazy, and extremely disturbing stuff went down.

And let’s not forget that one of their own, offensive lineman Jordan McNair, died because of Durkin’s negligence.

It’s hard to understand how the university of Maryland could have decided that bringing Durkin back is a smart, decent thing to do.
