We could be one step closer towards hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry owning the Carolina Panthers.

ESPN’s David Newton has reported that the two are a part of the group fronted by Fanatics owner Michael Rubin.

Rapper and mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and Golden State Warriors All-Star Stephen Curry are among a strong, diverse group that e-commerce billionaire Michael Rubin is putting together as potential minority owners in his effort to purchase the Carolina Panthers, a source told ESPN.com on Tuesday.”

Combs made his desire known shortly after the announcement that Jerry Richardson was selling the team. Not long after, both Curry and former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick expressed interest in joining his bid.

There’s still a lot that needs to happen before this group (or any group, for that matter) buys the team. But the partnership with Rubin, who heads a merchandise website that is an official partner of the NFL, makes the possibility more realistic.
