Report: Seahawks could lose draft pick for failing to disclose Sherman injury

Richard Sherman

The Seattle Seahawks are going to need to upgrade what has quickly become a roster that lacks depth. This was never more apparent than in the team’s NFL Divisional Playoff loss to the Atlanta Falcons this past weekend.

Unfortunately for the Seahawks, it now appears that they could potentially lose a high-round pick for failing to disclose an injury Richard Sherman has been playing through.

Head coach Pete Carroll indicated following the loss to Atlanta that Sherman had been playing through a significant MCL injury, which the team apparently failed to report.

It goes without saying that this is a violation of NFL rules. Now, it looks like the Seahawks could potentially be docked a second-round pick in the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft.

That’s no small penalty, especially for a Seahawks team that’s had success grabbing solid players in the second round. It could also limit general manager John Schneider’s ability to move up and down the draft board, something he has done a ton of in recent seasons.
