The New Orleans Saints have reportedly claimed cornerback Janoris Jenkins off waivers after he was cut by the New York Giants.

Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media shared this news on Monday, with the note that this move is “deferred until tomorrow because they play tonight.”

Jenkins inked a five-year, $62.5 million deal with New York during free agency in 2016. He tallied 12 interceptions in his three-plus seasons with the Giants before ultimately being cut for his use of a slur on social media.

The Saints have taken another of New York’s cast-offs recently, having traded for cornerback Eli Apple last season. It remains to be seen if this roster move will pay off as well as that one did for New Orleans.
