Report: Ryan Tannehill will have surgery, miss entire season

Ryan Tannehill

As it’s been speculated since last week, Ryan Tannehill will undergo surgery to repair the damage to his twice-injured ACL on his left knee.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald had the scoop on this story.

“The Miami Dolphins and Ryan Tannehill have come to the agreement that the best course for repairing a torn ACL in hi left knee is to opt for reconstructive surgery and so the quarterback will have that surgery and be placed on the injured reserve list,” Salguero wrote Friday night.

Salguero reports this “decision was made Friday evening made Friday evening when coach Adam Gase and Tannehill spoke about the options open to them.”

At this time, it’s not known which type of surgery Tannehill will have on his left knee, but he is expected to be ready for training camp next year, per Salguero.

With Tannehill out for the entire season, Miami is going to be relying on recently un-retired Jay Cutler to come to the rescue. Thankfully for the Dolphins, Cutler looked fantastic in his first practice (watch here) and appears to be taking over nicely already.
