Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier was in danger of never walking again after breaking his back in 2017. Now he’s being considered for ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”
ABC Entertainment’s senior VP of alternative series, specials and late-night programming, Robert Mills, confirmed to Variety that Shazier is being considered for the highly popular dancing competition show.
“Two years ago, he [Shazier] was hit on a Monday Night Football game and doctors feared he was paralyzed, and he has learned to walk again. Those are those great stories that are really what ‘Dancing With the Stars’ is all about — here’s somebody who has overcome something, and when you do that, you dance,” Mills reportedly said of Shazier. “He would be great.”
We already know that Shazier has some moves on the dance floor, thanks to a post-injury wedding dance he shared on social media last year.
His recovery has been nothing short of miraculous, and it’s served as an inspiration to many. With that in mind, if he were interested in making an appearance on “Dancing with the Stars,” chances are he’d have a ton of support right off the bat.
