Report: Ronnie Hillman re-signs with Broncos

Ronnie Hillman has agreed on one-year contract to remain a member of the world champion Denver Broncos in 2016, per Mike Klis of 9News in Denver.

Denver allowed Hillman to test the open market but happily welcomes him back into the fold after over a month of nothing doing for the running back on that front.

Entering his fifth year year as a pro in the NFL out of San Diego State, Hillman was a key contributor for the Broncos last year, rushing for 863 yards and seven touchdowns (both career highs).

In his four seasons, Hillman has started 15 games for the Broncos during his four-year career, rushing for 1,842 yards and 12 touchdowns.

His familiarity with Gary Kubiak’s offense should benefit whomever lines up behind center for the Broncos in 2016 — Mark Sanchez or someone else yet to be named. Likely, Hillman will once again platoon with C.J. Anderson next season unless the Broncos decide to draft a young rookie who earns the starting job.
