Report: Rockets plan to match any offer to Clint Capela

The Houston Rockets may have lost Trevor Ariza in free agency, but the team is reportedly all in on retaining restricted free agent center Clint Capela.

According to this report from Sam Amick of USA Today Sports, the Rockets plan on matching any offer that’s presented to the young big man.

Capela, 24, turned in a tremendous 2017-18 season with the Rockets. He averaged 13.9 points and 10.8 rebounds while shooting an NBA-best 65 percent from the field.

In a normal market, Capela would likely receive a max contract offer. But as of now, only the Chicago Bulls could offer him that.

Though, a Western Conference rival like the Sacramento Kings could make other minor moves to sign Capela to a lucrative offer sheet. At the very least, that would force Houston to back up the Brinks truck for the big man.
