The Buffalo Bills are dealing with some major uncertainty at the running back position less than two weeks before training camp itself opens.
With Karlos Williams suspended the first four games of the season and LeSean McCoy coming off an injury-plagued 2015 campaign, Buffalo is definitely in need of some depth in the backfield.
Enter into the equation a veteran running back in Reggie Bush who might be able to add a little something over the short term.
Bush, who bombed out in his only season with the San Francisco 49ers last year, has not drawn much interest in free agency. And for good reason.
The 31-year-old former Heisman winner has put up just 325 rushing yards in 16 games over the past two seasons, continually showing an inability to remain on the field during that span. Bush’s 2015 season ended five games in after suffering a knee injury.
Despite this, CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora is reporting that Bush is the favorite among a group of veteran running backs to land in Buffalo.

Signing Bush would be more out of pure need than anything else. As we mentioned above, Williams is slated to miss the first four games of the 2016 campaign after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
There were also reports during the spring that the 2015 breakout performer has struggled with weight issues after putting up a stellar rookie season.
As it relates to McCoy, his off-field issues are behind him. Though, the injuries he suffered through in his first season with the Bills are surely a concern for the organization.
Buffalo did add former Arkansas running back Jonathan Williams in the fifth-round of this year’s draft.
Unfortunately, the former Razorback was arrested and charged with a DWI last week. He’s likely to face NFL discipline at some point in the not-so-distant future.
