We already know that the Cincinnati Reds are going all in for the 2020 season. That was almost taken to a whole new level late last month.
According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, Cincinnati offered star outfielder Marcell Ozuna a three-year, $50 million contract before he ultimately settled on a one-year, $18 million deal with the Atlanta Braves.
This is indeed a case of the 29-year-old Ozuna betting on himself. The two-time All-Star hit .241 with 29 homers and 89 RBI while boasting a .800 OPS in 2019. That .241 average represented the lowest mark of his seven seasons in the majors.
The hope for Ozuna is that he duplicates what we saw back in 2017 when the Dominican native hit 37 homers, drove in 124 runs and posted a .924 OPS.
