Report: Ravens signing RB Danny Woodhead

Danny Woodhead

The Baltimore Ravens are starting to make some noise as the official start of free agency draws near. Running back Danny Woodhead is reportedly going to sign with the AFC North squad, fully healthy after ACL surgery sidelined him in 2016.

The Ravens are giving Woodhead $4.25 million guaranteed on this new deal.

Woodhead is a tremendous change-of-pace back who fits what Baltimore needs on offense. With Kenneth Dixon and Terrance West both showing promise as traditional backs, Woodhead will slide right in as a third-down back who can make big plays in the passing game.

Throughout his eight-year career, Woodhead has appeared in 93 games and started 13. With over 2,000 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground and nearly 2,500 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns through the air, he can literally do it all in a pinch.

This is the second big bit of news for Baltimore, which is losing quite a bit of talent of its own in free agency. Safety Tony Jefferson is also reportedly set to sign with the club once free agency begins at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 9.
