It sure looks like young quarterback Jared Goff will have that elite blindside protector to help him progress after a disastrous rookie season.

According to multiple media reports, the Los Angeles Rams will sign three-time Pro Bowl left tackle Andrew Whitworth away from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Whitworth, 35, has started all but two games over the past eight seasons and seems to be getting better with age. He was an All-Pro performer with Cincinnati in 2015 before earning a second consecutive trip to the Pro Bowl this past season. The veteran is seen as one of the best left tackles in the game.

It’s an absolutely huge move for a Rams squad that has been relying on first-round bust Greg Robinson to play left tackle recently. Los Angeles yielded 49 sacks en route to finishing with the fewest points in the NFL this past season. Robinson wil move inside following this big signing.

Even at 35 years old, Whitworth got paid big time. According to CBS Sports NFL insider, the veteran will earn $36 million over three seasons with $15 million guaranteed. Not a bad payday for the former second-round pick from LSU.
