Report: Rams sign Pro Bowl pass rusher Connor Barwin

It’s not a secret that new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips has had some input on what the Los Angeles Rams have done in free agency. The addition of former Denver Broncos cornerback Kayvon Webster earlier this week magnifies that to a T.

Now, the Rams have reportedly signed another Phillips pupil in the form of pass rusher Connor Barwin, formerly of the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles.

Barwin, 30, is coming off a down season with the Eagles that saw him record just five sacks. It was his lowest statistical output since back in 2013.

The former Pro Bowler rejoins Phillips, who coached Barwin with Houston from 2011-12. The pass rusher record a combined 14.5 sacks during that span.

After moving to defensive end last season, the expectation here is that Barwin will play his more natural outside linebacker position for the Rams in 2017.
