Los Angeles Rams rookie running back Kyren Williams could be sidelined up to six weeks with a high-ankle sprain, ESPN reported Friday.

The fifth-round draft pick sustained the injury in the first quarter of Thursday night’s season-opening 31-10 home loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Williams, 22, entered the season behind Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson Jr. on the depth chart. He will likely be placed on injured reserve, per the report. The IR designation requires missing four games.

Williams had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons at Notre Dame from 2020-21 and finished his Fighting Irish career with 2,153 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns plus 675 receiving yards and four scores.
