Rumors were flying Monday that Las Vegas Raiders rookie receiver Henry Ruggs had a near-death experience while helping a friend move. Thankfully, those rumors were unfounded.
The rumors started when a Twitter account shared that Ruggs’ thigh was punctured and that “his femoral artery was an inch away from being hit.”
Not surprisingly, this induced a bit of panic across Raider Nation. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Ruggs was involved in an accident while helping a friend move. However, he is “OK” and the wound reportedly is not serious.
Ruggs’ father, Henry Ruggs Jr., shared some details, per AL.com: “He was trying to move a trailer or something — move his furniture or something — and the trailer just kind of pinned him against a car or a wall or something. He’s pretty much OK, I’m about to go out there and see him in a little bit. It was just like a little open wound on his leg, a little incision. Like something had stuck him right there on his thigh a little bit.”
The Raiders used the 12th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft to select Ruggs out of Alabama. A speed demon, he’s likely going to immediately become a main weapon for Derek Carr and Jon Gruden this season.
During three seasons with the Crimson Tide, Ruggs caught 98 passes for 1,716 yards and 24 touchdowns.
