Report: Michael Crabtree released by Raiders

Raiders receiver Michael Crabtree being escorted off field

The Oakland Raiders have reportedly released wide receiver Michael Crabtree, who was due to make $7.7 million in 2018.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the transaction.

This was something that had been noted as a distinct possibility in recent weeks, and it became even more likely when Oakland began pursuing receiver Jordy Nelson on Wednesday. On that note, there is a “high probability” Nelson signs with Oakland now, per Schefter.

Crabtree had some good years in Oakland. He caught 174 passes for 1,925 yards and 17 touchdowns between 2015-16 but fell off a bit last year, catching just 58 passes for 618 yards.

Still just 30 years old, Crabtree will no doubt drum up plenty of interest from teams in need of help at receiver.
