The Las Vegas Raiders might be saying everything publicly to back Pro Bowl quarterback Derek Carr. However, it seems that this is just postering to up his trade value.
Reports over the past several weeks have concluded that Las Vegas will move the embattled signal caller at some point soon.
Reporting from the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Benjamin Allbright of Pro Football Network suggests that the Raiders are “heavily shopping” Mr. Carr.
Despite the Raiders’ public stance, this has always made the most sense. They have already been linked to big-name quarterbacks Tom Brady and Philip Rivers heading into free agency.
For his part, Carr doesn’t necessarily have the best of relationships with Raiders head coach Jon Gruden. That’s the backdrop here.
If the Raiders were to move on from Carr, he’d have a strong trade market. Here’s a dude that’s averaging north of 3,900 passing yards with 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions over the past five seasons.
