Report: Pistons Re-Sign Reggie Jackson to Five-Year, $80 Million Contract

The absurd amount of money being thrown around the NBA this summer continued on Sunday night with the Detroit Pistons reportedly signing restricted free agent Reggie Jackson to a five-year, $80 million contract.

Jackson, 25, was acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder in a three-way trade back in February. Long considered a starter, the guard was unhappy about his role as a bench option behind Russell Westbrook.

In 27 games with Detroit, the former first-round pick averaged 17.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 9.2 assists per outing. He also shot 44 percent from the field, including 34 percent from three-point range. Detroit boasted a 10-17 record with Jackson running the offense.

His stats aside, $16 million per season seems to be a pretty big price to retain Jackson. Though, he did seem to fit in extremely well in the team’s offense.
