While the quarterbacks in the 2017 NFL Draft are not that highly regarded by some, they may be off of the board early. Texas Tech signal caller Patrick Mahomes has generally been ranked between the second and fourth best quarterback in the draft, but he could be gone quickly.

Not only are the Kansas City Chiefs interested in him, but they’re reportedly willing to trade into the top 10 for him.

It’s certainly not a surprise that the Chiefs are quarterback hunting. Alex Smith has been in Kansas City for four years. While the Chiefs have made the playoffs three times, they’ve yet to advance to even the AFC Championship Game.

But moving into the top-10 from the No. 27 pick would certainly not be cheap. This is also risky for a guy like Mahomes, who’s far from a sure thing. But with 10 total picks in the draft, Kansas City certainly has pieces that would help it move up into the top 10.

It would be a definite gamble. But for a team without many glaring flaws, it’s certainly worth thinking about.
