Report: Packers Among Teams Interested in Reggie Wayne

According to Dave Furst of WRTV-6, the Green Bay Packers, along with a few other teams, have an interest in former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne.

Wayne will not be returning to the Colts after producing a fantastic 1,070 catches, 14,345 yards and 82 touchdowns in 14 seasons with the team.

While we saw Wayne’s production dramatically decline in 2014, the 36-year-old former All-Pro is a potential Hall of Fame candidate due to the incredible mark he left in Indianapolis.

Now healthy, Wayne recently claimed he still wants to play football in 2015. If the Packers are seriously interested in Wayne, they would become even more overcrowded at the position that boasts Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and up-and-coming second-year receiver Davante Adams. Additionally, the Packers selected rookie Ty Montgomery in the third round of this year’s draft.

Other teams reportedly interested in Wayne are the Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots.

It should be exciting to track Wayne’s activity over the next few weeks to see if one of these teams might make their move. Obviously, Wayne’s best shot at making it to one final Super Bowl would come with the Green Bay Packers or the New England Patriots should one of those teams sign him to a short-erm deal.
