Report: Notre Dame WR Freddy Canteen out for year with torn labrum

Notre Dame

Notre Dame wide receiver Freddy Canteen will miss the rest of the 2017 season after suffering an injury to his shoulder.

According to Pete Sampson of Irish Illustrated, the transfer student who arrived this year from Michigan will have surgery this week to repair a torn labrum.

Canteen missed the 2016 season as well due shoulder injuries, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh said, per the Detroit Free Press earlier this year.

He was recruited to Michigan back in 2014 as a four-star receiver out of Wilmington, Del.’s Eastern Christian Academy. However, despite his blazing speed Canteen has only managed to catch seven passes for 29 yards in his college career.

Before his injury this season, Canteen caught one pass for seven yards in Notre Dame’s opener and did not register any stats in Week 2.
