Report: NFL to debut spring league in 2017

In unprecedented news Thursday, the NFL announced plans to start a “spring league,” using four teams comprised of veteran NFL free agents.

Seemingly a take on the FXFL that ran for two seasons in 2014 and 2015, as well as the veteran free agent combine that was a magnificent bust last year, the spring league would allow veteran free agents of lower profiles a chance to showcase their talents in hopes of getting nabbed by teams looking for bottom of the roster help.

The league will reportedly consist of practices (obviously) as well as six games set to take place in the month of April.

No player currently on an NFL roster at the time is eligible to play.

UPDATE: Reports have surfaced that the spring league is not affiliated with the NFL in any way.
