Report: NFL Draft Prospect Jalen Collins Failed Multiple Drug Tests at LSU

Less than a week before the draft isn’t exactly the best timing for information like this to come out.

According to NFL Media insider Albert Breer, former LSU cornerback Jalen Collins failed multiple drug tests during his college days.

There is no information regarding what drug Collins tested positive for, but this latest piece of information will likely drop Collins, who was considered by some an early Day 2 prospect, to the bottom of that day or the top of Round 4.

When you combine failed drug tests with the perception that Collins is a bit of a project at corner, it’s easy to see a rather large drop come draft time in Chicago next week.

If the positive tests were for marijuana, it will be interesting to see how teams around the league respond to Collins. The NFL has recently taken a more lenient stance on marijuana, but there’s no telling whether that will impact where Collins lands come Friday or Saturday.

Collins, 22, recorded three interceptions in 58 games during his three-year career with the Tigers. At 6’2″ and 203, he’s seen as one of the bigger top-tier corners in the draft.
