Dallas Mavericks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. likely will miss the remainder of the regular season after undergoing surgery on his fractured left foot, The Dallas Morning News reported Tuesday.

The team confirmed Hardaway’s surgery for a fractured fifth metatarsal in his foot but gave no timetable for his return, saying only that rehabilitation would begin immediately.

Dallas has 31 games left in the regular season. The Mavs are 29-22 and in sixth place in the Western Conference.

Hardaway, 29, suffered his injury during the second quarter of the Mavericks’ game against the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco on Jan. 25. He had to be helped to the locker room.

Hardaway was driving to the basket with 7:17 left before halftime when he was fouled by Damion Lee and landed awkwardly on his left leg. He was able to take his two free throws — hitting both — before teammates were called on to essentially carry him into the locker room.

Hardaway, who is in his ninth NBA season and fourth with Dallas, is averaging 14.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists through 42 games (20 starts) this season.
