The first major trade of the NBA offseason may very well be nearing completion. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Dallas Mavericks are on the verge of acquiring All-NBA defender Tyson Chandler from the New York Knicks.
Chandler played in Dallas for one season back in 2010-2011 before catching on with the Knicks. He is set to make over $14.5 million next season.
Update: the whole deal includes Wayne Ellington, Shane Larkin, Sam Dalembert, Jose Calderon and two second-round picks heading to New York for Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton.
Larkin, a first-round pick of the Mavericks last June, would be the centerpiece of the deal for a Knicks team that is looking to find any way to improve on a mediocre 2013-2014 season that saw them miss out on the playoffs in the weak Eastern Conference.
